We provide furniture and household goods to individuals and families in need of furnished homes. We believe everyone deserves basic tools essential to everyday life and provide quality items that bring dignity to our client’s lives.

To donate furniture and household goods you can request a donation pickup appointment with qualifying items, or bring items to our warehouse during select hours.

Items we accept

To qualify for a donation pick up appointment, one essential item is required- which include mattresses, dressers, couches, kitchen tables or chairs, washers, electric dryers, refrigerators or stoves. All items donated must be gently used, ready to use, no repairs needed. No rips, tears, stains, or tape patches and free of rips, tears, stains, or visible pet hair. We will also accept most other household items and clothing at the time of your appointment or at our warehouse. We do request a financial donation for appointments to cover the costs of appointments.

Furniture condition

  • Gently used, ready to use, no repairs needed. No rips, tears, stains, or tape patches
  • No pet hair, bed bugs, fleas, cockroaches, evidence of mice or other rodents or exposure to other health risks, etc.
  • No disassembly provided – items must be disassembled
  • Appliances must be working, with all parts and must be clean
  • Refrigerators must be plugged in for 24 hours prior to pick up to verify operation
  • All furniture and baby items must be SAFE! We do not accept recalled or damaged items
  • We reserve the right to refuse any items deemed unsuitable for our clients.

Items we do NOT accept

  • Worn furniture with rips, tears, stains, or visible pet hair
  • We cannot repair or clean item- items must be in good working order and clean
  • We do not accept waterbeds,  platform beds, captains beds, adjustable beds, trundle beds or hospital beds
  • We cannot accept donations from insect-infested homes or buildings
  • We are not accepting large (greater than 4′, unless item allows for resale) desks, metal desks or filing cabinets
  • We no longer are able to accept cribs, car seats, high chairs, changing tables due to numerous factory recalls and safety concerns
  • Dishwashers or other built-in appliances

*Drivers have final discretion on all items

We do the heavy lifting

Because our professional staff removes the furniture from your home or storage location and puts it onto our truck.

Enjoy a three-hour window for your pickup

with an optional 30-minute call-ahead confirmation. We’ll call you a day or two before to confirm our planned arrival.

A tax receipt is provided at the time of pickup

The Furniture Bank is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please consult with your tax professional for tax deduction details.

Our social enterprise Downsize with a Heart offers these customizable services. Every inquiry begins with a FREE, personalized, in-home consultation. Drop off your donations

at our facility, Mon-Fri, 8:30am – 11:00am and 1pm – 4:00pm at 118 S Yale Ave, Columbus, OH 43222

On occasion, we may choose to sell your donated furniture to help fund our work.

But we only sell a small percentage of all furniture donations received as helping families in need is our top priority. All proceeds from these sales are used to offset the expense of our mission.

Just need help with removal of household items we cannot accept?

At the time of pickup, if you have items that we cannot accept for donation, but you just want to get rid of, we can remove these items for a fee.

Drop Off Information

You are welcome to bring items to our warehouse to drop off donations. Drop off hours are between 8:30 am and 11 am and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. We will assist you in unloading items. Our location is at 118 S Yale Ave, Columbus, OH 43222. Call (614) 545-3838 when you arrive to receive directions on where to drop off donations or come into our lobby.
