Posted on March 16, 2021

The Furniture Bank of Central Ohio is hiring a full time Volunteer Engagement Coordinator AmeriCorps VISTA Member and an IT Process Coordinator Americorps VISTA Member through the Ohio Association of Foodbanks ShareCorps program.

What is AmeriCorps VISTA? From the AmeriCorps VISTA website: “AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) members bring their passion and perseverance where the need is greatest: to organizations that help eradicate poverty. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve as a catalyst for change, living and working alongside community members to meet our nation’s most pressing challenges and advance local solutions.”

How You’ll Help:

Volunteer Engagement Coordinator VISTA Member will expand volunteer opportunities by creating a new volunteer program tailored to our Lancaster Furniture with a Heart Thrift Store location. Utilizing social media and other identified marketing avenues, you will recruit a new volunteer base, develop volunteer job descriptions, and establish official onboarding procedures. You will also make inroads with local non-profits, churches, and government agencies by leading group volunteer events and coordinating in-kind donation drives. Your initiation of volunteer appreciation events will serve to retain your recruited volunteers and partners. Finally, through the development of a survey administered to the families we serve, you will identify key improvements to the quality of our services in the community. Ultimately, you will increase the number of families served by the Furniture Bank on both ends! This is an opportunity to come in, get creative, identify new projects, and make real changes in our organization.

Volunteer Eng. Coordinator

IT Process Coordinator VISTA Member will be integral in the deployment of a new technology systems upgrade across all of our internal operations. You will evaluate our current operational procedures, including furniture donation scheduling, inventory, client scheduling and satisfaction, financial reporting, volunteer management, and other organizational processes. Identifying process improvements, you will apply your knowledge of our technology systems to digitize these operations, increase their efficiency, and train staff on their implementation. Help take us to the next level! This is an opportunity to analyze current systems, identify areas of improvement, take initiative, and make real changes in our organization.
