Furniture Bank of Central Ohio provides furniture to central Ohio families and individuals struggling with poverty and other severe life challenges. We collect, build, store, and deliver various furniture items to people living in bare or sparsely furnished housing. Most of the families served live in or near Columbus, Ohio, where poverty and homelessness are at the highest levels. In 2017, the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio served 3,337 families by providing them with 5 to 20 pieces of essential furniture based on their needs.

The Furniture Bank is GREEN!

When you donate furniture to the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio, you are not only helping people in need, you are also recycling and joining us in preventing the 60,000+ solid items that we collect each year from ending up in a landfill. This amount of furniture would equate to a 28-foot high pile, covering one acre and more than 45,000 cubic yards that is kept out of the landfill – about 310 semi-trailers packed full of furniture recycled each year. The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) awarded the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio the 2007 Emerald Award for partnership and collaboration with local agencies and the City of Columbus for our recycling effort.
